On Saturday, Mitcham & Carshalton 1XV recorded their 7th league win of the season and the double over a tough Woking side. The first half started as a cagey affair, with M&C repeating a number of sins which were seen in the Wandsworthians match, namely giving away penalties in crucial parts of the pitch. This being said, where before mistakes had cost points before, M&C bounced back quickly, with a robust defence allowing them to clear their lines several times.
The pace in M&C’s backs were ultimately the difference in the game and the speed on the counter meant that M&C looked lethal in every play. Tries from No.8 Harry Richardson, Centre Kevin McCombie, Fly Half Paul Jones and Winger George Whelton (his first 1XV try) put Mitcham 24-0 at the half and Mitcham were looking comfortable.
The second half continued in a similar vein, with three more tries scored in quick succession, with Jones and McCombie’s both getting a brace and JohnJoe Dolan getting his first of the day, killing the game effectively before the hour mark.
Despite M&C going down to 14 men in the final few minutes, the away side were able to weather the final few minutes of pressure and even managed to score a final try courtesy of Winger Timmy Bheemul in the dying embers of the game.
Tries: G. Whelton, H. Richardson, P. Jones x 2, J. Dolan, K. McCombie x 2, T. Bheemul
Conversions: P. Jones x 2, C. Griffiths x 2

MOTM - Ben Jeanes - Bigger Ben gets MOTM for a very strong performance in the 1XV, solid in a dominant scrum and made his prescence known with his carries.
DOTD - JohnJoe Dolan - Could have been man of the match, but then he had to go and be a muppet.
