Mitcham & Carshalton were victorious in their tenth consecutive win of the season. Both sides gathered in the centre of the pitch to share a minutes silence for Racal's former Captain Steve Filgate, who tragically passed away early in the start.
Racal began the stronger side and Mitcham were forced to defend for much of the first ten minutes. Despite this, Mitcham were able to break away with the first points of the game, scored by Fly Half Jacob Williams. Despite getting the inital points, Mitcham's defence, which has proven strong all season became slightly lack lustre, allowing Racal to run in two consecutive tries, putting Mitcham 10-7 down.
Poor discipline began to creep into the game in the second half and Mitcham began to take advantage of the boot of Williams. Three penalty kicks put Mitcham back in the lead 10-16.
Pressure was added to the final 15 minutes for Mitcham, with Racal scoring in the corner after sustained pressure in Mitchams' '22. A missed conversion put Racal only a point behind Mitcham. Again poor discipline returned to Decca and Williams further punished them with two additional kicks.
A final try was then scored then by Keir Waller after a blittz defence 10m from Racal's try line saw a spilled ball, allowing Waller to scoop up and score under the posts.
Mitchams' next match will be against Battersea Ironsides at 1.30pm on Saturday 30th.
