Mitcham and Carshalton were victorious on Saturday in their first Pre-Season Friendly of the season against CSSC Barbarians 43-0. After an intense pre-season under their new coaching Coordinator, Mitcham were quick out of the blocks, opening their account within the first few minutes from Winger Keiran Redmond scoring on the back of a well executed backs move. Within quick succession, Mitcham recorded a debut try for Fly Half Jacob Williams and Full Back Mark Whittall, putting Mitcham 21-0 up by half time. Williams went on to score 5 of the 7 conversions during the game.

Despite the comfortable scoreline, the Barbars presented a strong forwards display, giving Mitcham trouble at the set pieces, especially at the scrum, where their positional experience proved invaluble. Despite maintaining a healthy amount of possession, the fast blitz defence meant the Civil Service's side struggled to truly trouble Mitcham's quick back line.

Throughout the second half, Mitcham maintained the tempo, with additonal tries being ran in by Pack Leader, Michael Kestell, Winger Rees Perkins, Winger Matty Allen and a second for Redmond. Flanker Max Duggan earned MOTM for his exceptional performance in the back row and very solid defensive duties.

Mitcham's next game will be next saturday in a Friendly Cup tournament, and Away to Egham Hollowegians in their First League Match on the 21st September.
